This is actually 2 related videos that I came across. One of them, Eastern Rises from Felt Soul Media has been "around" for a little while, while I haven't seen the other anywhere else. Felt Soul Media is a great outfit, and became pretty well known in the fly fishing circles for their film "Red Gold" which brings to light the Pebble Mine proposal in Bristol Alaska. Hopefully the opposition to the mining operation is successful and the proposal is ditched.
This post, though is more about Russia than Alaska, and while I fully support the efforts to stop the Pebble Mine operation, I find these videos on the kamchatka system in Russia very intriguing. The first video is from the Kamchatka Project which is a great group of explorers who are trying to shed some light on the Kamchatka region, it's fish and it's people. Like Red Gold, the Kamchatka project aims to help protect wild Pacific Salmon and prevent the near extinction of the species like was done with the Atlantic Salmon. The second video is from Felt Soul Media, and is more of a fishing flick than a conservation piece. I thought both were great films.
Enjoy!
